TENN360 INSIGHT:

The Miami Open is where tennis meets Miami. Since moving to Hard Rock Stadium, it has grown into a huge tennis-and-entertainment experience, with both ATP and WTA 1000 events sharing the same campus. Think world-class tennis, palm trees, food, music and a crowd that didn't come all this way to sit quietly.

Stadium Court is the big one, seating more than 16,000, but don't assume bigger means better. The Grandstand — with more than 5,000 seats — gives you a considerably more intimate view, while the outer courts are where you can get properly close to the action. If you want the best balance, I'd choose a good side-on Stadium Court seat and spend part of the day escaping to the smaller courts.

Excellent. There are 17 practice courts accessible to ticket holders, with first-come, first-served seating, plus eight additional competition courts beyond Stadium Court and the Grandstand. Early in the day is your friend here: practice sessions and outer-court matches can give you a much closer look at the players than a seat in the big stadium.

You want tennis with a bit of theatre around it. The Miami Open is particularly good for a tennis holiday because there's enough happening away from the courts to keep non-obsessive companions entertained too — restaurants, bars, entertainment and plenty of Miami energy. And with both tours playing, you can spend the fortnight dipping between the ATP and WTA draws.

Give yourself a full day rather than turning up for one match and going home. Start with the outer courts and practice sessions, wander the campus, grab something to eat and then save Stadium Court for the big match you really want to see. The tournament has a genuine festival feel, so leave some room for doing absolutely nothing except following the noise.

This is South Florida in March, so expect sun, warmth and the possibility of humidity. Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are obvious, but I'd also carry water and a light layer for heavily air-conditioned indoor areas. Evening sessions can feel much more comfortable once the heat drops.

The tournament is at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens rather than central Miami, so don't underestimate the journey. Parking is available but limited and should be booked ahead; rideshare has dedicated drop-off and pick-up points, buses serve the area, and Brightline's Aventura station is a short rideshare journey away. Once you're through the gates, though, the campus itself is made for walking.

You want a quiet little tennis club where you can hear every ball being struck. Miami is busy, commercial and deliberately entertaining. It attracts hundreds of thousands of fans, so if your ideal tournament is three courts, two cafés and everyone knowing everyone, this may feel more like a small city than a tennis club.
