TENN360 INSIGHT:

The ATX Open is still a young tournament, but it has quickly found its identity: women’s tennis with a distinctly Austin flavour. Played at Westwood Country Club, it combines a relatively intimate setting with a proper WTA Tour field — and the Texas crowd gives it plenty of personality.

For the main match, I'd favour a side-on seat in Center Court rather than going too close to the baseline. The relatively compact stadium means you should get a good view wherever you sit, while courtside and VIP seats are for those who want the full bells-and-whistles experience. There is also access to Grandstand and other courts with the appropriate ticket.

Very good. The Westwood Country Club layout gives fans opportunities to see practice and secondary-court action at much closer quarters than at a major event. Early rounds are the sweet spot if player access matters to you — fewer crowds, more movement around the grounds and plenty of tennis happening at once.

You like your tennis close-up, relaxed and a little bit different. It's particularly appealing if you're combining the tournament with a few days in Austin: good tennis in the afternoon, excellent food and music afterwards. And because it's a WTA 250, there is a real chance of discovering someone before they've become a household name.

Go early and make a day of it. The smaller tournament setting means you can watch the main action, wander over to practice courts and catch players up close without feeling like you're navigating an airport terminal. Then stay for the evening session — Austin is rather good at making tennis feel like an event rather than an appointment.

This is Texas, but February/March Austin isn't guaranteed pool weather. You can get beautiful sunny tennis days, but temperatures can move around, so layers are the sensible choice. Sunglasses and sunscreen are still worth packing — particularly for an afternoon session.

Very good. Westwood Country Club is in central-west Austin, and the tournament provides dedicated parking and shuttle arrangements, while rideshare drop-off is available nearby. Walking and cycling are also catered for, so you don't necessarily need to make the car your entire personality for the week.

You're after the grandeur of a Grand Slam or the giant tennis-campus experience of Indian Wells. ATX is deliberately more intimate. That's its charm, but if you want endless courts, huge crowds and the feeling of being swallowed by tennis for a fortnight, this isn't that tournament.
