TENN360 INSIGHT:

Bogotá has been part of the WTA calendar since 1998, making it one of the tour's long-running 250s. Played on the outdoor clay courts of the Country Club de Bogotá, it is also one of the highest-altitude tournaments on the calendar — which gives the tennis a rather different character.

The setup is pleasantly compact. The main court has numbered lower and preferential seating, while general-admission areas are available too. I'd choose a side-on seat close enough to appreciate the clay movement, then spend some of the day wandering between courts rather than staying planted in one seat.

Excellent. The Country Club setting gives the tournament a relatively intimate feel, and the compact layout makes it much easier to follow matches away from the main court. Early rounds are particularly good for getting close to the action and seeing players before the later stages become busier.

You want something different from the standard WTA tournament experience. The combination of red clay, altitude, Colombian fans and a historic city makes Bogotá feel genuinely distinctive. It is also a great tournament for fans who enjoy discovering players rather than simply following the biggest names.

Go early and watch the players finding their feet on the clay. Bogotá's altitude changes how the ball travels, so watching a few matches before settling on your favourite court is part of the fun. And leave time to explore the city afterwards — Bogotá is far too interesting to spend the entire trip inside a tennis club.

Don't let the tropical location fool you: Bogotá sits high in the Andes, so the weather can be cool and changeable even when the sun is shining. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses because the altitude makes sun protection important, but also pack a light waterproof layer. This is definitely a “check the weather before you leave the hotel” tournament.

Very good. The Country Club de Bogotá is in the north of the city, at Calle 127C No. 15-02. Bogotá is a huge city, so I'd stay reasonably close to the venue and use taxis or ride-hailing rather than building your day around long cross-city journeys.

You want guaranteed sunshine, a huge tennis campus or the blockbuster atmosphere of a WTA 1000. Bogotá is much more intimate and characterful. And if you've never watched tennis at altitude before, be prepared for the conditions to be part of the story.
